Your username led to this kind of an answer, ~VicViper407! I'm a fan of the Gradius series as well!
Though this pic in particular was inspired by the spin-off, Otomedius.

I'd like to work on this in better detail later on (but not before the other responses are done). I was able to get the special edition of Otomedius Excellent, and the bonus art book and soundtrack provides great references and BG music for working on this pic!
