Hello everyone. Just leaving an update since I haven't been around here for the past couple of months. I've been making some careful considerations about my career right now and I'm trying to decide if it's time I changed jobs again, stick with my current one or consider becoming a freelance artist. It's a tough decision where things could either get better or worse, so I haven't exactly felt like drawing while this is all going on in my mind.
On a lighter note though, I've also been busy settling down in my new "man cave". I've been spending more time at hardware stores and the furniture and appliance departments at our local malls for stuff that'll help fix up the place.
Now, you guys know that I draw pastel colored ponies and use an unusually high amount of pink in my works. In real life though, I have taken a liking to monochrome things over the past few years. I'm almost always dressed entirely in black, and most of my recent gadgets are either black or white.
I suggested this monochrome theme when the home was still being renovated. So now, the place has white walls with a black baseboard accent and light gray flooring tiles. And I plan to furnish the place exclusively with black and white stuff (along with gray and metal/silver, those work too).
For starters, here's my current Raspberry Pi setup where everything on the table is monochrome. At the moment, it's mainly an emulation box running Lakka (a Retroarch-based OS capable of running several different emulators). I also have a separate micro SD card for Raspbian, hence the keyboard, mouse and Wacom tablet.
And here's the main room where I've been spending most of my time to relax after work. We picked out a new mattress and I recently put together the bookshelf, which came as a kit. I've put in my newer books and Nanoblock sets, and I plan to store my pony merch and DS/3DS/Vita games on the vacant shelves (just hope there's enough room)! This is where I usually settle down with my laptop(s) for work/play (not pictured, since I'm currently using a wooden table that clashes with the theme )!
This past weekend, my parents helped me pick out a couple of other things I'll put in this room: a sofa set and a small dining room table. I just made a down payment for both and we can expect them to arrive by the 20th (the mattress will have to be moved to the other room by then). And afterwards, I bought a little something else that I've been eyeing for a while: my first mechanical keyboard. My fingers have ascended!
There's still quite a few more things I need to buy, like a water dispenser and entertainment center. You can be sure they're all adhere to the black and white theme I've already got going for the place!

I've been here at Deviantart for more than a decade and have seen the site slowly evolve over time. New job
I mentioned before that I've resigned from my outsourcing job as a web content writer and graphic artist back in 2017. I was hard pressed to find a new job, and then finally decided to give teaching a go. I spent one semester as a part-time philosophy instructor in my former high school teaching senior high students. It was manageable, but I felt that I was too soft-spoken for the job.
In mid-2018, my experience in teaching and as a writer paid off because I was hired as an editor for a local publishing company that focuses on academic books. Compensation and benefits are fair, but the working hours are rather long though, since I'm
Patreon Rewards and Tier Price Revisions
(Above: an example of what the new $7 Artbook tier contains, in addition to access to $3 rewards)
It's been five months since I opened a page at Patreon, so I've had time to test how I go about uploading rewards and see what approach seems best. One of the first things I've adjusted was to eventually unlock the rewards for the two lower tiers ($1 and $5) over a set period of time. This way, non-patrons wouldn't be permanently locked out of the bonus content, as per my general philosophy of wanting to keep my art as accessible as possible for everyone.
But over time, putting in the extra effort into making these rewards feels like it's slowi
Patreon paused
I'm pausing my Patreon page for a while because I need some time to reconsider the rewards and the content I'm currently offering. Some rewards have proven to be too time-consuming, and I'd like to revise things so that I could use that time instead to focus on my next project in queue more quickly.
It's also probably going to get busy since it's nearing the end of the semester for our university. And as a newbie part-time philosophy instructor, it might take me a while to get familiar with how documents and student records are supposed to be organized and submitted.
In short, I need to focus more on career-related matters at the moment. Pa

Huh. Interesting concept I admit. I find just adding light is always a step in the right direction.
Raspberry Pi, eh? Just curious, but are you into Arduino or the like, perhaps controlling things electronically? I'm launching a Kickstarter soon for such Arduino compatible board: www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUjJVR… ^^
